Hello, my name is Craig.. I have a dealer trying to sell me one of those planters and I’m not really sold on it, I like the idea of twin rows but not fully sold on it.. Please, if not to much trouble can you send me that list of problems you had to me.. So I can see what things were the problems so I can be fully informed when I make my decision.. Thanks…

Our experience with the GP YP-2425 a 2 years ago was nothing short of a nightmare… We had the planter for one spring and got rid of it. Our list of issues and frustrations was simply too overwhelming to overcome our desire to make twin rows work. We’re now planting 20″ corn & beans with a Deere Bauer planter and are extremely happy with its performance. That’s not to say all GP planters are bad, but our experience was memorable for all the wrong reasons.

That’d be nice, but we were running a prototype Great Plains down force system which was solely able to be managed through the Dickey John components. We love our Trimble hardware, so I’d have switched it if we could, but ultimately the Dickey John components were the least of our worries… We had so many issues with the Great Plains planter and system as a whole that we’ve already traded away from it for the upcoming season. We love the Twin Row agronomics, but not the GP planter.

Since that is all controlled by Dickey John monitors it can all be run through the FmX if you have the right cables since Trimble bought Dickey John and uses their application components.

How do you like planter? i’m looking into a twin row YP1625. Any comments on the planter would be appreciated.

We actually will be getting rid of of the Dickey John monitors, both of them. The smaller monitor (A5) that manages coverage for swath control gave us fits all season long and I wouldn’t recommend its usage to anyone.

nice setup!! Are you going to get reid of the dickey john monitor when you get the 20/20 working?
