DIY yacht self steering system (wind vane) on Cal34

This is our self steering system. We build that piece of equipment last winter… works really good. It’s very simple and bullet proof. The wind turn the vane which turn the trim tab which turn the auxiliary rudder we built and installed. Works on every point of sail. It’s not finished yet, we still need to install a tiller on the auxiliary rudder.

Thanks, it’s made out of 3 piece of 3/4″ plywood laminated and fiberglassed. After a few season in the water, it didn’t take on a drop of water.
