tofugu.com Gadgetry is going to be pretty important for TofuguTV, come this December. In this video I (very casually) walk you through the gadgets I’ll be bringing on the trip – this includes cameras, camera accessories, computers, and more. If you like gadgets as much as I like gadgets, you might like this video. if you don’t care about gadgets, you should watch the video on clothing instead.

    Great video!

    For cameras get used to using them by taking lots of photos before the trip etc. People often only use their cameras once a year on their holidays and wonder why they dont get the results. The answer is practice, practice, practice.

    I like the back ups as well.

    Im looking forward to watching the rest of your videos on your trip.

    Hi Koichi! I was just wondering, and this might just be me being nosy, but what is your occupation? What do you do for a living?

  5. gxcad says:

    Not sure if a 2 month late reply will do you any good, but no…they are pretty close to identical to the U.S.A. They use 100V instead of 120V so most things are compatible. MOST!

    you should check out an onsen and traditional guest houses or take part in the tv show ‘sasuke’ or ninja warrior as its known in the west that would be awesome!!

    Whether it’s 1080i, 1080p, 720i or 720p, the size of the image is less important than the actual resolution. I’ve used cameras that were only 720i but had a 4:2:2 color space (3chip) and it was far superior in resolution to a consumer camera that was 1080i with a resolution of 4:1:1, single chip sensor. The difference is monumental. And there is a huge difference between 4:1:1, 4:2:2 and 4:4:4… single chip and 3 chip sensors. Don’t trust pixel size. It’s the resolution/color space.

  19. StabbyMcButterPants says:

    What Tofugu? Your not going to bring your wide angle lens? Always use wide angle lenses. Especially for shooting one person interviews and scenery. The reason? Standard lenses on consumer cameras are pretty flat and 2 dimensional. Add a wide lens and it gives the objects in the fore and background perspective and a more open feeling. Not cramped or crowded. It’s part of the psychology of how the human brain interprets things without consciously being aware of it. Just like color and sound.

    Thanks for the information. But it sounds pretty expensive.

    Awww how sweet.

  22. AnalogNow says:

    I can’t wait to see everything you’re going to film with all this planning and spending I’m just guessing that you can’t wait either 🙂

  23. sauron1grenoble says:

    720p = 1280 × 720 pixels
    1080p = 1920 x 1080 pixels

  24. xXxXSquishyXxXx says:

    Ah, not too worry. The UV filter will primarily save your lens from dust and finger prints and of course UV rays.
